CAM Program

The range of possibilities for graduate study in Cornell’s Center for Applied Mathematics encompasses the areas of specialization of all of the faculty members in the field, who current number more than eighty. The faculty members are drawn from fourteen departments in the College of Engineering, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. There is opportunity for further diversification on the choice of minor subjects.


Research in the Center for Applied Mathematics at Cornell covers an extremely broad range of topics. Our research includes algorithms, dynamical systems, mathematical finance, fluid mechanics, mathematical biology, mathematical physics, numerical analysis, optimization, probability and stochastic processes and communications technology. Because of the nature of CAM, the research takes on a collaborative approach with faculty from many different academic areas, allowing our students to draw on resources from a variety of disciplines and departments in developing their particular programs of study.
